WCIS without an App

Image
Did you know that WCIS can be used without an App. For anyone who thinks "I'd love to use it, but my singers can't use Apps" - Here is a quick demo using our Web-Based versions. We made a recent upgrade to our Host version and it can now use notifications to provide Hosts with real time data. No need to refresh ever again.  Beautiful seamless request management with no App in sight. The Apps do have more functionallity because we can do more with them. And the best thing - If your Singers decide they want more, they can choose to download the App if they want. Both Apps and Website versions will work simultaneously.  You can have one Singer on the App and another on the Web version and it will simply work. Hosts, get started - here

The Easiest Way to Find Nearby Karaoke

Image
Here's the easiest way to find nearby Karaoke. Use the WCIS App, get it here - http://onelink.to/5syt2j Available in every country and town in the world. This is just a sample. If you don't see any pins nearby (or details in the dropdowns), tell your local Host to add their events. Hosts, add your pin for free here. Unlike Facebook, you DO NOT need to post the details every single event. Just verify it is still running once every three months (this is just so that outdated details are automatically removed). NO Credit Card required - https://admin.connect.whatcanising.com

Karaoke Directory service

Image
A free Karaoke directory -  I bet you are thinking "It's been tried a dozen times and failed every time because the listings become out of date, and they are not accurate, and the list becomes too big, and you have to keep posting the gig week after week after week, over and over". What if I told you that we solved all 4 problems! How did we do it? The first thing to fix was the list. So we made ours Map based. We still kept the "list view" but we made the list populate in order of "Closest to you". We made this much more user friendly than doom scrolling through an endless list trying to figure out what was near the user. Second thing to fix is the initial accuracy. Hosts, Venues and Singers can add the gigs. But we VERIFY every entry. This means there are no "dummy" or "test" entries added. We also made it so ANYONE can add the Gigs. Singers who want this available will add them. Venues who want their details displayed can add th...

Why Can't I See My State or Town. This is something we are asked occasionally. The reason why it doesn't appear - your local host just hasn't sigend up yet. Hosts are able to use our admin panel to add their venues. And as soon as they do, the dropdown boxes will update to include the new details. Why do we do this?  Imagine if we added every city in the world into the App even if it didn't have an active venue. You would be scrolling through hundreds of cities that didn't have an active venue, just to find the ones that were active. Imagine how frustrating and time consuming that would be!! We'd rather just give you the locations where it IS active. The Host App looks a bit different. You might notice that we give some links to Hosts. We try to make it as easy as possible for them to ad their info. Why not let everyone add details? We only allow Hosts to add their venues because if somebody else added it, and the Host didn't know it was there, that could g...

Enhance Your Interaction

Image
We are commonly told by Hosts that they think a digital platform will reduce their interaction. It is normal to think this way. The reality is very different though. There are 3 things that come into play in relation to this.   Their perception has not been tested. When I was a kid, I used to think that if I jumped high enough, I could touch the moon. Well I tested that theory and proved it wrong. They haven’t obtained all of the information available to make a great conclusion/decision. Would you plan a ski holiday without first checking to see when the snow season was? They are basing their decision on a bad product. Would you never buy another car again just because you previously owned a Pinto or an Edsel? We have added functionality that has seen our customers able to increase the interaction with their singers. So if that is of interest to you, we have the benefits. Here are just a couple of examples. When the singer submits a request, they get an acknowledgement sc...

Why do we recommend account creation?

Image
Why Do We Have Account Creation?  Without an account, you would miss out on many of our "unique user functions". With an account, you can save a favourites list and even get a copy of your History. The Host can also send you a "it's your turn next message" when you have an account. The App uses the minimal data possible to operate and this data is not shared with anyone - the App stores now force us to provide data information to the user. If we are not following protocols, they will remove the App from their stores. Minimum Data Required to Create An Account; Something that looks like an email address - this can be fake, but using a real one will allow you to recover your account if you forget your password.  First and last name - These can be stage names or nicknames so that doesn't even need to be real - just what you would like the Host to call you.  A picture - can be a photo of your cat or even your beer. This is just to help the Host know who you are....

The Rise of Technology

Image
In a recent post, a Host was referring to the, “Look what I can do with technology!” craze that gave birth to the rise of remote submission apps. There’s a sect of society that is so infatuated with their smartphones that no number of apps is too many, and at some point, we’ll probably all be forced to capitulate to their whims to some degree because their numbers continue to grow. That is something we have been mentioning for some time. Technology is not the future anymore. IT IS NOW. A very wise Host named Jim provided an interesting response that included; > "Those millions of TikTok users are all voluntarily lining up to be exploited to earn great sums of money for TikTok." It is now an easy fact – Give someone an advantage to downloading an App, and just watch the numbers skyrocket. Jim went on to say; > "Eventually the remote request app developers will realize that there are far more singers waiting to be exploited by them than the number of KJs willing to p...

Acknowledgement Screen Timeout

Image
We have just added a 15-second timeout to the acknowledgement screen. This screen is displayed when a singer makes a request. The timer will be reset if they tap on the screen and it is paused if they view the advertisement or hit the “share” buttons. Once the timer runs out, they will be taken back to the search screen. This feature is more important for Kiosks. On a kiosk, often singers will submit their requests and simply walk away. This would just leave the acknowledgement screen on display for the next singer. With this new feature, the screen will automatically close.

More Kiosk Customisation

Image
In our Kisok accounts, Singers are presented with 2 fields for their names. First Name and Last Name. Pretty straightforward so far. We asked for both names because there are just way too many Harry’s out there. The last name is purely to make it easier to identify people. To make it more flexible, we have given the Hosts the choice to make the “Last Name” compulsory or optional. Just choose this in the settings when you add the venue.

Custom Message to Singers

Image
In our latest update, we added a feature where the Host can add a “custom message” that is displayed to the Singers every time they submit a request. It’s in the middle of the screen; We added the default message; > "Please come and say 'Hello' to the Host. We like to interact" However, this message is customisable. The Host can change this or even remove it completely.

Changed Your Mind?

Image
In a recent update, We added a new button for Hosts The “Move to New” button. Let’s say you approve a request and then decide later that you made a mistake and want to “Un-approve it”. Hitting the Move to New button will move the request back into the unapproved list. From there you can decline it or approve it again.

What’s an Apostrophe?

Image
Did you know that there are a bunch of different characters that can be construed as an apostrophe? Most of the time, it just depends on what keyboard you are using. Here is a range of characters you could encounter; With this in mind, recently we made some modifications to how an apostrophe was handled. If the Host used one type of apostrophe, and a Singer conducted a search using a different type, we wanted to make sure they got the results they were looking for. So here is what we did. We have unified the apostrophe across the entire App. From now on, it doesn’t matter what character a Host uses, our system will recognise it and convert it to a standardised apostrophe. When a new song is added, our system will convert them all to the same character. We scanned all of the previously entered characters and converted them too. Then, in the Singer’s App, we recognise any apostrophe characters and modify any incorrect searches to the standardised apostrophe. Now all of your search result...

Announcing, KaraTrack!

Image
American friends and users, We are very proud to announce KaraTrack as a new sponsor of WhatCanISing for the missing song requests in your region.   KaraTrack is a search engine for finding licensed Karaoke songs to purchase in your region.  Unlike other options, it is dedicated to those in the USA and will show you what you can legally obtain without showing you thousands of tracks you can’t.   No more sifting through thousands of songs available in regions outside your licensed country of residence.   Just find what you CAN access. For our Australian and Kiwi friends, Pick’n’mix is still our “go-to” for Australia and New Zealand.
